youtube does not care about it's users enough, if at all. they would rather support the needs of advertisers and government branches for their own benefit, rather than give users a reliable experience. this includes, but isn't limited to at all:
- blocking adblockers to not only push youtube premium, but to push more and more ads onto users who don't have premium, along with potentially damaging their privacy and security in the long run.
- demonetizing creators for saying things like "kill", "sexual assault", "hanged", "fuck", and "hey now you're a keemstar", regardless of context and meaning, and then punishing creators again for "being too kid friendly" when told to do so before. this forces creators to either censor words such as these, or replace them with words such as "unalive", "getting cosby'd", "having a rope party", "that thing your mom and dad did to create you", and "why am i still getting hate". i understand that kids use youtube willingly without restriction, but isn't this the reason why youtube kids was made to begin with, and yet you don't do anything to actually enforce such things?
- elsagate. they've yet to figure out how to get rid of cropped porn on their platform, and at the same time, they leave youtube kids to be an abandoned cesspool filled with it (as mentioned above).
- hiding recently fresh comments because youtube's moderation (like any platform moderation) sucks.
- banning youtubers for no reason because as i mention, youtube's moderation still sucks.
- the algorithm. i feel as if i don't need to explain this one. everyone knows.
so yeah. i don't really like youtube as a platform when it comes to making key decisions, but inevitably, if i want to watch videos on the internet, i realistically have no other good choices.
